Vefaradrekinn
Vefaradrekinn started out in January of 2016 as a Facebook page where I would post photos of my weaving. I had no real goal nor real purpose for it aside from keeping all my weaving in one spot that wasn’t my personal page. Next thing I knew, I was getting commission requests.
Then life happened. My family and I had to relocate for military reasons and my weaving was put on the back burner while we settled in to our new life in our new location. I still wove but not as often as I should have or wanted to. Life happened again when I suffered a series of injury which would keep me out of armour and force me to sit. I took this opportunity to start weaving again but this time a bit more seriously. I started researching what I was weaving and slowly I starting seeing the science and mechanics behind the art.
A friend and mentor invited me to take a class about the mechanics of tablet weaving and everything became so clear. That is when I knew that tablet weaving was something I would do for the rest of my life and not just a phase. From then on I started drafting my own patterns based on pictures of fragments. I lost count of all the rabbit holes I’ve discovered along the way.
This is where I’m at right now. Surrounded by rabbit holes, pushing past my comfort zone. I started teaching and sharing what I know. I love seeing people learn, the way their eyes light up when they see what they can create with a few threads and a handful of tablets. My goal for the future is to keep pushing my limits, keep learning, keep teaching, and keep sharing.
